Building Long Standing Relationships
COMBINING CARE, COLLABORATION, AND CRAFTSMANSHIP TO CREATE AN EXCEPTIONAL HOME BUILDING EXPERIENCE
POHLIG IS A WIDELY RESPECTED, experienced, high-end custom homebuilding company. Established in 1974, the organization is led by Chris Bergh and Wayne Leighton who are the visionary stewards of the Pohlig legacy. Under their leadership, Pohlig upholds the highest standards throughout the construction process, develops and nurtures trusted relationships, and invests in a synergistic team well-versed in both the craft and business of luxury homebuilding. Pohlig is all about its people and retains exceptional talent to create some of the finest homes and communities on the Main Line.
Since its founding by brothers Todd and Don Pohlig, the company’s long-standing goal is to exceed the expectations of their clients. From initial conversations to move-in day, the firm guides their clients through the complexities of homebuilding with the aim of creating an integrated, enjoyable experience, and the best possible outcome. Pohlig’s extensive portfolio has led to repeat clients and national recognition. Winners of “America’s Best Custom Builder” award from the National Association of Homebuilders, Pohlig’s work is comprehensive, accomplished, and culminates in magnificent homes. From land planning and architecture to construction and settlement, every aspect is considered and supremely well executed to render homes of lasting value and beauty.
People
POHLIG CO-OWNERS, Chris Bergh and Wayne Leighton, are longtime colleagues who share a passion for the Main Line and custom homebuilding. They are committed to the innovative care, collaboration, and craft that is the Pohlig legacy.

Chris Bergh
Co-Owner, Principal
Chris Bergh reinforces the Pohlig legacy and brand with a long view to the future and a strong passion for building custom homes. The consummate communicator, Chris fosters and develops relationships between clients, design professionals, and trade contractors from the beginning of a project, throughout implementation, and long after a project is completed. A believer in innovation, Chris finesses the construction systems, financial reporting, and client management processes that are at the heart of the company’s success.
Berwyn, Pennsylvania born and raised — with a tradition of engineers and architects in the family — Chris has worked with Pohlig since he was a sophomore in college when he interned as a field laborer during the summer. Originally planning to pursue a degree in industrial design at The Ohio State University, he changed his major to Construction Systems Management and was hired to the Estimating & Project Management team after his 2005 graduation. Invested in the company since day one, Chris manages Pohlig’s custom home portfolio and values getting to know clients and the incredible houses he’s had a hand in creating for them. He is equally committed to forging a work/life balance for the Pohlig team. An inveterate student of the construction and design industry, Chris is an active member of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art.
Chris is a Philly sports fan, loves golf, and spends time with his wife, son, and their golden mix Reggie.

Wayne Leighton
Co-Owner, Principal
Wayne comes from a large extended family with historic roots on the Main Line. Since 1998, he has been instrumental in expanding Pohlig’s reputation as one of the area’s premier custom home builders while simultaneously creating a workplace that attracts and retains the talented people that comprise the Pohlig team.
A graduate of Villanova University with a BSCE in Civil Engineering, Wayne also holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Prior to Pohlig, he was a bridge design engineer who matriculated into real estate consulting and development after grad school. At Pohlig, Wayne has merged his technical background with his business experience to acquire and develop the Company’s many award-winning residential communities.
Deeply concerned about how Main Line townships grow and evolve, Wayne brings a unique perspective on the development of the high-end residential ground. He is committed to producing communities that benefit the homeowners as well as the towns where they are located. Wayne has served on the Radnor Township Planning Commission, the Shade Tree Commission, and the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee and Implementation Committees.
A father of four, Wayne enjoys spending time with his family and grooming his kids to follow in his footsteps. His son, Chris, has already joined Pohlig to Wayne’s delight. When not working, Wayne can be spotted on a basketball court now and then.

Don Pohlig
Co-Founder, Principal
Don Pohlig has been passionate about residential construction his entire life. At Pohlig he manages the daily operation of the business, oversees product design, sales, purchasing, construction and warranty services. On a personal level, Don works directly with every client from contract signing until long after moving day. He delights in the myriad aspects of the building process and the relationships that bring about unique and wonderful places to live.
A native of Drexel Hill, Don is a Business Management graduate from Delaware County Community College. He was in a hurry so by the age of 21, he was operating a successful framing business in the historic region where he grew up. After joining forces with his brother Todd to create Pohlig, the company’s work continues to be nearly exclusive to the Main Line and its bucolic environs. As he says, “In 44 years, we haven’t looked back. We get to work with the best in the business and create beautiful homes.” In addition to Don’s extensive construction knowledge and his warm client relations, he leads the company’s technology advances, developing Pohlig’s programs and systems to meet the changing needs of homeowners. He speaks frequently on the value of technology in residential construction and is active with the National Home Builders Association’s Builder Twenty Group and the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA).
When not building homes, Don enjoys playing golf, sailing and oil painting.

Todd Pohlig
Co-Founder, Principal
With an eye to the future, Todd Pohlig guides the company through fluctuating markets, positioning the business for tomorrow’s opportunities. Fostering a unique company culture has amassed the area’s top talent into an all-star team of dedicated individuals. From the outset, building long-standing relationships under Todd’s steady hand has earned Pohlig accolades as a leading custom homebuilder on the Main Line. A Civil Engineer with a business bent, Todd is a graduate of Villanova University. After serving in the military, Todd started Pohlig with his brother Don and says, “We had incredible support and mentors when we started out. Our success continues today because of others. I really enjoy paying forward—personally and professionally—to the home building industry.” To that end, Todd is involved at the local and state levels concerning the environmental aspects of home site development and redevelopment. He participates on the Villanova University Entrepreneurial Advisory Board and guest lectures as an alum (BSCE ’72). He has been the president of both the Main Line Building Association and the Home Builders Association of Chester and Delaware County. He remains an active member of both as well as the Pennsylvania Builder Association. Todd also serves on the Chester County Economic Development Council, Chester County Public Safety Training Facility and Easttown Municipal Authority. On the weekends, Todd performs as a drummer with his classic rock band, Blue Sky.
